Art Field Guide is an independent editorial guide to the artists and works that changed how we see. It is designed for curiosity rather than consensus.
The premise
Look first.
Art history can feel enormous, closed and overexplained. This guide makes an argument through selection: begin with an artist, look closely at five works, then follow the connections outward.
The selections are deliberately opinionated. They reflect historical consequence, originality, influence, critical attention and the force of the work itself. Inclusion is not a ranking. Absence is not dismissal.
Editorial independence
No hidden hierarchy.
Art Field Guide is independently edited. Its regional, thematic and medium-based paths overlap because artists do not belong to a single story. Every artist has one definitive page connected to each path in which they appear.
Commercial prices may provide context, but they do not determine inclusion. The guide accepts no paid placements.
